Blue Cheese (Barney's Farm)
Blue Cheese is one of those strains that many people grow season after season. It grows quickly and vigorously in veg and produces quite big buds in flowering. The buds are kind of leafy but the leaves are totally covered in 'sugar'. This hybrid is not quite stable. Ususally, the plants get squat and bushy and are great for SCROG and LST. However, some phenos have a dominating central cola and are good for supercropping. Topping these plants is a bad idea. There are a few complaints of these seeds producing hermies which is probably due to the Blueberry parentage. The other parent - Skunk #1 - gave Blue Cheese an extreme smell which starts to be noticable already in veg. Outdoors and in greenhouses, this strain is hardy, easy-to-grow, mold-resistant and uncommonly high-yielding. At the same time it attracts pests. Blue Cheese makes a great mom plant because it clones so well.
Quite strong and long lasting. It doesn't make you trip but fills your body with euforia and relaxation.
A nice relaxed feeling can still leave you functional but to a certain extent. After some time the couchlock sets in. This weed can also be used against insomnia.
It's the strain's highlight. The cheese pheno is rare. Most plants smell like fruit and berries and the aroma of cheese/skunk is noticable only from some distance. In most cases the buds and the smoke smell very strong but some are more subtle. In which case a proper cure is of paramount importance.

Original Cheese X Blueberry.
A productive easy-to-grow strain yielding incredibly fragrant and tasty buds.
The characteristically intense aged-cheese flavors are softened by the sweet blueberry after-taste.
This short stocky plant has strong side branches that develop very heavy sticky colas during a short flowering period.
The potent effects are calming and relaxing - a true sensation for Indica enthusiasts.
Gender: Feminized seeds

High: Heavy stoned
Flowering: 50 - 60 days
Height: 50 - 100 cm
Yield: 400 - 500 grams per m2

Lots of branches. Great for SCROG systems.
Got this at Barneys Farm coffeeshop in amsterdam, very strong indica, definately good for insomnia, napping made easy.
No mold, fast sativa growth, no yellowing of fans, MEGA organic smell that may not be stoppable in flowering, smells a lot like horse manure.
No mold even with wet cold heads for last two weeks.
Thirty oz dry weight of hard trimmed heads grown in natural soil in a poor green house.
Beautifully euphoric high, very tasty smoke and vapor.
Smoked some Blue Cheese last time I was in Amsterdam, killer bud, really interesting smell.
Well to sum it i can't really say too much really i wouldn't say either are top shelf material with the pheno's i had yes both of them yeild well, dense bud plenty of crystal but just not what i'm lookin for.
7/10 yeild Bluecheese
I've just finished smoking my first Barney's Blue Cheese harvest.
As far as the plant itself, it is pretty hardy and took everything thrown at it - even put it outside for a week when I went on holiday.
Only thing I will say, is that it's well worth drying and curing the bud properly. I really wasn't impressed to start with, but as I've started smoking some of the harvest that has had time to dry and cure properly, it has improved.
Also took 2 cuttings of the 1st one and have got them outside in pots. They are due to be harvested at the end of the month - provided the weather holds up for another 2 weeks.
Have to confess though, I also grew some NL on 12/12 and I much prefer this to smoke over the Blue Cheese, but that's just my taste.
Monty Bong (thctalk.com):
I think its a great strain, reacts well to supercropping and lst techniques, very nice taste to it, a good strong stone and decent yeild. Not much more a grower could ask for... Top strain in my book, indoors and out.
John Smith Esq:
Barneys Blue cheese comes from a cheese plant borowed from Big Buddha Seeds and then crossed with Barneys own blueberry male, not the easiest of plants to grow imo but if the conditions are right then you will be amply rewarded. During curing mould can form if conditions are less than ideal.
And even in veg she is a stinker.

High is quick to take hold and grabs you hard, this is not a creeper, some couch surfing is to be expected but if enganged in physical activity (casual bike ride for example) you get a nice relaxed muscular sensation and the floaty dream state is quite pleasant. Food tastes become more vibrant and you may expericence hightened auditory sensitivity (lound noises sound cooler) occasionally i get slight ringing in my ears if im really really high. This Buddah takes you on a jouney everytime, medicinally this may not be desirable but it does have a recreational apeal bigger than popping bubble wrap.
oily undertones abit like WD40 or chain lubricant, very sublte.
strong berries and fruit with floral undertones, no particular blueberry taste, more like a forest fruits kinda vibe
not spicy at all
slight dusty smell when first lifted out of the jar, soon turns sweet and pungent when the bud is broken up

smokie1 b c f c:
the blue cheese i grow, takes 9 weeks, but is better, in the high, when taken at 10 weeks.
I have some blue cheese curing atm, smoked some at the weekend there for the 1st time and its absolutely honkin mate. Put some through the grinder and rolled one, left the house for a few hours and came back and my kitchen was good but bad smelling if u know what i mean, first thing that went through my mind is that i left the jar lid open, but the reak was only coming from the grinder inside my tin.
Total dry weight of the 4 plants was approximately 8 ounce
Smoke has been tremendous, only drawback is the smell is VERY strong, it turns heads everywhere and even keeping it within the flat has been difficult
Would highly recommend this strain apart from that though, tastes great, took quite a lot of abuse and the yield was pretty good for a first time
Great smoke the but it's the smell that blows you away. The smell, especially when its been grounded is just intence. Tastes great and most importantly it got me really wasted most of the time
Super tasty, just got to be careful where you smoke it, even outside the smell travels a distance!!
Just taken around the same length of time (12 weeks) for my last BBC grow well tasty innit

it does smell like cheese.. musty sourmilk cheese stored in a dirty sock..it made me gag the first time i tasted it awesome..had both big budda and barneys big budda was it
the smell of blue cheese is 1 of a kind thats about all i can say
ya its really unique strong musty skunky old cheesy smell....
the bb cheese is the clone only cheese from the uk crossed the an afgani to add welght to the skunk #1 pheno and still kepp its smell.. adds a stronger indica stone to it 2..
and the barneys farm one is 75% bb cheese 25% blueberry.....
the cheese/blue cheese buds are different 2 they are a light green
i had one on the river that died but my other four are all about 4-5 feet tall and bout 3-4 feet wide right now... pre flowers showed outside about three weeks ago and there now starting to bud out... i'm hoping they will be done the second week of oct... i always think when you grow outside the smell and flavor come out stronger...... they sure are pretty.
the blue cheese 10 out of 10 harvested outside in michigan last week of september, super stick short bushy plant with a nice blueberry/grape smell and flavor.
I just finshed my 3rd season with all Blue Cheese. I used one mother, which was also flowered, and 5 clones of that mother. Very easy to grow, but definately sensitive to ph adjustments. I found it best to chill around 6.4 in soil. When I used water at 6.8 the Blue Cheese showed signs of stress. All was done under a 400w HPS and the yeild from this strain is no joke. Shes a real producer. If you're on the fence about getting this strain, and you love extremely skunky and fruity indicas, then this strain is DEFINATELY for you.
I've got my Barney's Blue Cheese growing away. I am really surprised at how quickly they have been growing. I had to put them into 12/12 after only 3 weeks of veg. As it is, I'm gonna have some monsters in a few months. They're also starting to "stink", (that wonderful aroma).
Blue cheese isn't blue
it reeks like cheesey mold from the other side of the room and when you grab a nug and pinch it it reeks like blueberries
hence the name blue cheese
it's skunk# 1 x blueberry
it's a real couch lock relaxing strain
cloning bc is easier then some strains i have a mother plant and i get 100 on the clones off her while the other 11 strains i grow are not as reliable
I've grown Barney's Blue Cheese several times (i've never grown BB BlueCheese, the original one, as I prefer Barney's version) Here in Holland BlueCheese is a must try 1) this strain gives very EASY to grow plants. If you're a begginer, you will very easily get a moderate yield If you're a GOOD grower, you will get amazing results (Coco coir in Open Run to Waste systems, as always, work PER-FECT !) 2) as the smell is VERY SUBLTLE, SOPHISTICATED , the curing room must be lit perfectly. If not, you'll get just above average weed. So I'd advice you all learn the too often unobserved rules to dry and cure your weed perfectly It's very easy. Go to GHS' Franco personal web site. he explains everything day by day with figures and numbers 3) Plant structure : It grows quite fast and large for an indica. The plant has short internodes and naturally produces vigorous secondary branches. So this plant works great as a 4-5 headed bush and not great for tight SOG system So ideally it would need to be tied and heavily trained (not topped, most feminized plants can't handle it) 9 plants per square meter under 600w is perfect. Have fun ! ++

Strain name: Blue Cheese
Breeder: Barneys Farm
Link to Growery Journal: http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/715979/page/1 joint, vape)
Aroma: This strain is mostly blue at the front like good blue dream with a decent skunk smell in the background. A very pleasant pungent smell that still sneaks through my carbon lined bag.
Flavor profile: None of the skunk really makes it through unfortunately but the flavor that remains is all blue with a creamy resin/hash taste. Not as strong as the smell would make you think. I would have preferred much more cheese than blue.
Smoke characteristic: It is a pretty thick heavy smoke that will choke you up if you take a huge rip. everyone around will enjoy the smell with you.
Dosage: 1/2 gram joint or a full bowl. ill usually pack 2 bowls if im sharing.
Onset: its a bit of a creeper. youll get all the regular eye drooping and sinus tingling but the high and mind fuck kind of pass in and out over the following hour.
Potency: solid 6-7 not the strongest but also not the lightest. and were it lacks in fuck uppage it gains in smell and all around pleasure to smoke.
Psychoactive Characteristics: good all around high from this strain. doesnt have a strong hold psychoactive wise but will get you feeling good and wanting to be active till that wall hits. pretty middle of the road hybrid right at 60/40
Duration: solid hour for a pretty heavy smoker
Final notes: its a good strain with a good taste a good high a good yield. i personally like sativa heavy strains for day to day use but as a hybrid goes this is great. does have good bag appeal since its so trich covered but other than that its a bit boring looking (sativa shaped conical buds not too tight and zero color change in foliage or pistils which i find boring). ill keep growing it for crowd pleasing. plus shit this stinky is easy to move.
grow was fine. vegged about 3-4 weeks and flowered 10. 7-10 day dry with a good 3 week cure at this point. i pinched the tops to promote additional growth which im not too fond of. im sure ill enjoy the growth better going back to lst and just spending a bit more time handling the plants while in veg.

so I did a side by side comparison of this cup winner in soil & hydro. the soil was oregons only and was fed nectari nutes, produced by same company. hydro was a topfeed dwc system, with flora expert series nutes. ive gotten a couple cousins over and had our selves an old fashion taste test. both are excellent smokes, the soil has a slight berry taste on inhale, and the organic, earthy, 1 said mushroomy taste as a buffer, then as an immediate aftertaste upon exhale of skunk. the hydro plant was our unanimous pick as our winner of this throw down, it had a more intense taste of berry on inhale, a clean heavily lung expanding smoke and extreme skunk on exhale. that bein said the hydro plant was more frosty, and majorly out produced the soil. im seriously considering this to be my new favorite flavor that ive dun, definitely give this strain in A grade in either soil or dro, but dro definitely took the trophy here.
well a 2month cure taste update.... the hydro still taste as amazing as it did with 2week cure. but the nice piece of news is the organics flavor has risen immensely. all 4 of my judges I have agree w/ I in sayin the oganic has improved with cure, they were dried at same time in same closet so all humidity and temps were equal throughout
mine were dense indica lookn nugs

I ordered 10 BF Blue Cheese seeds from The Attitude and germinated 5 and out of 5 I get 3 Hermies. I'm fairly new (2nd indoor grows) to ordering seeds online but is this normal? I also ordered the Sensi Seeds Jack Herer strain and 3 out of 7 are hermies as well. I do the 18/6 to 12/12 lighting with MH for veg and HPS for flower and I just kinda shocked at the amount of hermies I'm getting
Are you having light problems or something dude? All my Barney's bluecheese which are in flowering in my journal are 100% female. Infact all my Femmed seeds have been groovy with no herimes, I have even cloned some.
I don't think so. What would cause them to go hermie from normal 1000w lighting? Fully sealed grow op with no light leaks. I must be doing something wrong though if nobody else is complaining. The only ferts I use are Fox Farms and Worm Tea.
Im growing BF blue cheese and no hermies, I order all my seeds from attitude online and have never had a hermie. Can you think of any other stress they are getting? Usually light leaks are the culprit, I tape the little red light on my power strip even.
Have you ever stood in your grow room for 5 min. at lights out, if its possible for you to do then you should.. Good luck.
My blue cheese from barneys farm seed was small as shit and did not germinate at all
Dude - i think that is going to be one of the problems, if posible try to stabilize the temperature variations as getting too hot has been known to cause hermies.
never had a herme and been growin blue cheese for 5 years. favorite strain.

inished a barney's blue cheese about a month ago and the budd is excellent, hard with loads of crystals with a great high that really lasts.
I've grown barney's pineapple chunk which produced more, but the cheese is a defo a better smoke. I've never grown the same plant twice but will make an exception for this beauty
I believe i topped this one twice (rather than FIM'd). I would normally veg for about 5 weeks, more if i can get away with it although this is always decided by the size of the plant.
Same experience here. Just emptied my last glass of Blue Cheese and it is definitely a fantastic strain.
I think that blue cheese is a very single cola dominant strain which doesn't lend itself much to scrog. I scrogged the one bean i had of it last run and was surprised to see how single dominant it was, it also selfed itself leading to me having a second run of the strain now from the selfed seed stock. I'm not sure if it is the case but I've read that the original blueberry could be hermaphroditic, i don't believe the herm was from stress and def not light leaks as it was the only plant of 9 that was affected (got a few crosses from it to play with though). In any case this run i am testing several topping methods to see which one yields with this strain.
I got a pinch of blue cheese for my pipe one time and I was blown away by the flavor of the smoke and the following high, some of the best tasting weed I've ever smoked IMO.

My current grow is 5x barneys farm female blue cheese they are at 3 wks and have already started to show trichs
I started 5 barneys farm BlueCheese (fem) in 6" peat free bio pots with JI no1 no nutes at all until i repot (this is the same for EVERY grow)
When ready to go into flower tent i repot into black flower buckets (free from supermarket or if they are being tight a quid for 10) i think they are around 10/12 litres i repot into JI no3
Then i start them on BioBizz grow and bloom 1ml/pLtr upto a max of 5ml bloom and 4ml grow p/ltr all water is from my rain water butt and other than a good dose of liquid seaweed now and again thats all they get for 6/7 wks depending on strain then for the last 2 wks i switch back to just rain water for a good flush.
so far 2/5 have shot up and were filling out nice while the other 3 have all stayed very very short all were potted in same compost and have been fed watered exactly the same so not overly impressed so far but we shall see
I did some earlier in the year and they weren't blue cheese.
To look at they were nearly identical to a origonal BB cheese done in the past but when ready it was beautiful but didn't smell or taste anything like blue cheese more like a tutti frutti sodt sherbert taste and a light fruit smell not very cheesy / blue or skunky
I used to really like the Barneys seeds had good end results with sweet tooth twice, red diesel, but then did the Blue cheese and top dawg, both really nice but i felt they were not as described

This video shows 4 Blue Cheeses grown in a small closet. One of the plants is much more stocky than the other three. They all have a 'hybrid' look - rather broad but not really meaty leaves in veg that become much thinner during flowering. The central cola is bigger than the rest of the branches that produce significantly smaller buds. The colas look quite big and dense, with a good amount of sugar leaves that are really 'sugary'.
