The Ultimate (Dutch Passion)
An extraordinarily high-yielding commercial indoor strain. Its resistance to mold and bud rot makes it suitable for greenhouses, too. Due to its compact structure The Ultimate is ideal for small grow-rooms. The numerous side branches laden with heavy buds need to be supported. A high flower-to-leaf ratio ensures an easy manicure. Don't rush the harvest if you want higher yields.
A powerful long lasting buzz in the head and the body, not compatible with more active pursuits.
Through careful breeding we have created one of our most important strains, we call it “The Ultimate” as it combines some of the heaviest yields we have ever seen with genuine connoisseur quality.
It grows to a height of 60-75cm, ideal for the indoor grow room. Flowering time is 8-10 weeks, with explosive bud growth in the last 2 weeks. The Ultimate (50% Indica, 50% Sativa) will take plenty of nutrients during the growth cycle and is resistant to moulds and bud rot making it a good greenhouse choice too. The Ultimate is very suited for taking cuttings.
Our growers have never seen a plant yield as heavily with this level of quality. This is a recession busting strain of epic proportions and is guaranteed not to disappoint. This strain is already setting new standards amongst the Dutch commercial growers and is set to become a Dutch Passion legend.
Eddy, Dutch Passion (dutch-passion.nl):
... The Ultimate is a heavy yielder with big buds, so mould is always a potential risk especially in a cooler northern climate. Probably not recommended outdoors too far north in europe. Greenhouse would be much better. Outdoors she can be grown in countries like Spain.
The ultimate was the last strain I grew in soil before switching to hydroponics, It was the best smoke I have ever had! 2 plants yielded 12 ounces (400w hps per plant).
I got my seeds on boys trip to Amsterdam and grew them in coco fibre in my new grow tent. For 5 weeks I grew with metal halide then I switch the bulb for HPS for 9 more week. I had 4 female and 400gram harvest from 600W - top quality, yes It not an 100% organic grow but who care? Hydro give me the quality I want and it great smoke also. My only problem was neighbour who smelled it when I smoke joint in back garden - but not to worry as I blame my brother for joint ha ha. It is surprise to see bud this big and new for me also. But I grow her again after summer holiday and see if I am repeating successfulness. Amazing varieties Dutch Passion, in my opinions.
The Dubliner (dutch-passion.nl):
I bought a 5-pack of fem seeds in 2010 for a 600w grow. I got 5 females but 1 was a bit taller than the others so I tied it down to try to keep the plant from getting burned by the light. My mate said it was some of the best skunk he smoked that year - and he went to Amsterdam 3 times in 2010 lol I was surprised how well this yielded. It reminded me of Power Plant. I let this go just over 9 weeks until I cropped them and the buds got real heavy after week 7 I'd say. So yeah, I agree this is definitely one I would grow again. She is an energetic kind of stoney high that lasts a long time. This is not the cheapest Dutch Passion strain but it's a good one and I reckon you have to grow her to see what I mean.
Loft-dweller UK (dutch-passion.nl):
The Ultimate is the best yielder so far as I am concerned. Incredible buds from this variety, better yields even than the old 'big bud' cuttings that they used to have in London in the 90's and miles better to smoke too. I reckon she is at her best with a decent cure in glass mason jars. I don't know about soil cos I never grew in it, but in hydro this is the business.
The Ultimate is an incredible. Yields are at the highest level possible, but it is the weed which is even better. The high lasts all afternoon, intense with strong sativa influence. Definitely in the high quality club
I chose the best pheno and cloned it. It's THE SHIT! The best flower-to-leaf ratio, explosive bud development, a lot of strong side branches, easy to feed, beautiful aroma and exquiste high. Give them 70 days in flowering so that the flavor and the high are really at their best. The Ultimate definetly deserves its name. A must have for every good grower ;) Peace
I had three phenos and will describe the best. The buds were very beautiful and had a very delicious smell. A really pleasant high, great looks (not at all like in the Dutch Passion picture), good yield and very pleasant smell (for me). The effect is a matter of personal taste but combined with the flavor, the yield and the looks I'd say this strain is absolutely crazy and recommended...
I liked this strain. Easy-to-grow, takes a lot of nutes in soil w/o probs. Vegging for 4 weeks is enough. A lot of quite heavy buds. The flavor is as described. Suitable for commercial growing. Give them more light and plant food - you won't regret it.
Great strain, easy-to-grow, LST, 8 weeks, old-school. It's like DP widow, but higher-yielding, the cola starts giving in to gravity in week 7, you'll have to tie it to the ceiling or support it with a stake. Stuff for any time of day, I recommend it...
A heavy weight, grown in soil indoors, the branches were breaking. The effect is interesting, if smoked moderately thru water bong the high is mellow and smooth but if you make one huge bong rip you'll white out every time.
Grow Report #1
This weeks strain review comes from medical marijuana campaigner Clark French who is lobbying the UK Government to legalize cannabis for medical purposes...
The following text comes from Clark:
"Appearance. Very elongated and huge bud formations... quite dense with a very liberal covering of trichomes. Deep green leaf and a nice nearly lime green buds that have a hit of the foxtail calyx form. Loads of plumes of deep orange hairs erupt out of every calyx it looks really great."
"Aroma. Has quite a limited palate in comparison to some other Dutch Passion strains before you break it up smells musky and earthy. Though this really changes after you grind it and a real sweet almost tropical fruit comes out in the high notes and those low earthy tones become much more pronounced."
"Effects. I like The Ultimate's effects. It was great for smoking in sessions with my friends in social situations. Its not as effective as a CBD rich variety for my MS symptoms but I can definitely feel the difference. After medicating I can feel the pain and spasticity begin to go down and in general I feel better physically. The thing I think I liked most about the effect though is that it has a very calming feeling to it, I think that this would be a great strain for someone with anxiety as I do have problems with this from time to time and the ultimate sure feels like it would help in that situation. I haven’t had any anxiety problems for the short time I had a little of the ultimate in my life – this may be a coincidence or maybe because I was smoking it? who really knows.
Comments. Definitely a strain which I would like to try again – I’d like to keep a little then use it when I have problems with anxiety and really test how effective it is for me."
Grow Report #2
Our blog this week features an amazing 1100W of LED used to grow 15 plants. The plants gave an average of 114g of pot which the grower describes as some of the best he has grown. As previous customer grow diaries of The Ultimate have shown, The Ultimate is one of those varieties that can increase the harvest quantities from your growroom simply through the sheer size of the blooms produced. This is a variety which really does need support to prevent the plant collapsing during the final stage of flowering.
The customer grow diary this week comes from AutoBerry, a connoisseur soil home-grower who specialises in using high levels of LED light together with a careful nutrient regime to deliver the kind of harvests that any home grower would be happy with.
AutoBerry uses his home-made air-pots. Air-pots are a great alternative to the traditional ‘plant-pot’ design which allow extra levels of root oxygenation, this in turn allows for a healthy root system and minimises the chance of roots becoming water-logged. AutoBerry uses a ratio of 10 litres of John Innes soil, to which he adds a tea-spoon of Epsom Salts (magnesium-rich supplement), a teaspoon of ChemPac Potash, and half a teaspoon of baby-feed powdered milk. To this he adds 25% of potting sand and perlite to ensure that the soil drainage and aeration is improved.
In this grow the feeding and watering is done with a dripper to feed up to 12 plants using a timer system. The timer waters the plants twice each day, 2 hours after lights-on, and 3 hours before lights-off. The highest feed volume was 750ml towards the end of the grow. Feed was from Canna nutrients, AutoBerry used Canna Terra Flores, pK boost, Rizo, Zym and Boost. In addition vitamin/mineral drops were added at 2 mls/litre. RO (Reverse Osmosis) water was used for mixing the feed. RO water is often used by serious home-growers since it removes all background traces of the natural minerals found in the local water supply. This allows the grower to have greater control of the accuracy of the final feed solution. AutoBerry buffered the final feed solution and re-circulated it for 15 minutes in his reservoir before it was delivered to the plants. No air stones were used in the reservoir. The feed started at an EC (electrical conductivity) of 0.6 and a maximum of 1.8. AutoBerry uses a growing technique which might seem complicated, especially to new growers, but it also delivered the heavy blooms that home-growers dream of.
AutoBerry used 1100w of LED power from Quantum LED (including two of the 9-module ‘Photon 189’ units). Temperatures were maintained at around 26°C. The lights were on for 18 hours a day for the first 40 days. Then the lights cycle was switched to 12-hours-on/12-hours-off for flowering. Total dry harvest was 1650g from 15 plants, an average of 114g per plant. The following quotes are from Autoberry himself.
“The 50/50 indica/sativa is a great variety, a great strain for those who like balanced doses of indica/ sativa in one mega-cola edition. I had a great time with the strain, a joy to grow from seed to heavy harvest. i enjoyed the Ultimate grow, as she was no hassle, and is very tolerant of nutrients & temperatures and handles a dry out very well. I recommend to first time growers, as she is so forgiving in her genetics. A tremendous strain from Dutch Passion, for seasoned and new growers alike.”
“I used RO water (reverse osmosis, very pure) on the ultimate, so there were no excess salts. And at 26°C with relative humidity of 60%, she dried in 3 days to 62% RH. She likes to spread her branches and she likes lots of light - allow it to get in to the plant by giving lots of room round her. I watered twice per day and she would take more ! The Ultimate responded superbly to the "Silica" addition to the nutrients, and this is recommended throughout the grow. The LED array brought the best out in this strain. I had colas 3 times the height of a coke can and 1.5 the diameter, on all plants !! New grower tip; make sure your soil is not compacted, allow plenty of air in to the root system in soil. Ensure air movement at all times, even when lights out, as she is a heavy respirator of Oxygen and water."
“The Ultimate, when cured for 30 days, at 62% RH, hits you with pineapple lemonade fruit zest in the mouth. The Ultimate is one of the Dutch Passion team favourites, and I can see why now. After my first sample of the strain it is truly and wholly the fragrance of Amsterdam in one packet. The aroma bouquet, is multi complex and sweet to the tongue. Delicious, with hints of caramel, fruity, sweet zesty. A truly adorable all rounder. It is a very full complex classic quality aroma when prepared correctly, wonderful to savour"long classy looking blooms
“Average yield from the 15 plants was 114g per plant. The last 3-4 weeks of blooming where amazing to watch, she is very reluctant to give up her nitrogen in fan-leaves at the end of the grow, she holds it back until the last week, and then dishes up the weight gain in proportions I haven't seen before. I could so easy pop another set of beans in of these, as i am so impressed with her genetic vigour and integrity delivering fantastic performance for the new grower experience. She can produce a lot of hash for the hash man"
“The Ultimate has now earned a place in my top 10 personal choice list for all round delivery of a great product, from the 50/50 indica sativa blend, to the flavour and scent of this strain. It delivers hassle free growing and a superb bouquet when smoked. I am rarely able to finish a 0.5g joint, as she is so smooth in delta delivery to the cerebellum !. A clear high at 0.5g and at 1.2g a mental one. So adaptable by volume and power. A versatile adaptable pure delta nine delivery. The reverence of the bouquet, reminded me of the first time in "Amstel" and the sweetness of the scents coming from the Bulldog Coffeeshop on the Voorburgwal. A steady high, activities are not affected, long lasting, around 3-4hrs from a 0.5g joint.........a true master piece from the DP team. Highly recommended to all. A master piece of genetics. Congratulations Dutch Passion.”
Grow Report #3
The pictures in this weeks diary come from Army, of UK420 growers forum. His original grow diary is here . This was an organic soil-grown crop done under 2x 600W HPS, the grower describes the yield as his ‘biggest yield per plant so far’ and the smoke as “one of the most dangerous strains so far I know, a real narcosis, very high potency”
The Ultimate has some pleasant citrus aroma and flavours. Army describes it as follows: “At harvest a hazy lemony smell was going on, after drying it turned out a lemony skunk smell. After smoking it leaves a grapefruit like taste in the mouth” But the taste is only part of the story with The Ultimate. The real beauty of this variety, and the reason why so many people grow her is down to the powerful high and the remarkable yields. Army describes her as a …“Very good high… a straight first hitter. A serious smoke all over, also very strong body stone. I had my best sleep for years with Ultimate, very good sleep inducer even smoked just once. Very easy to grow, very good high, ultra good yielder, I recommend to everyone”
Grow Report #4
The Doc, a very skilled and experienced cultivation guru only sowed three feminised The Ultimate seeds, because they were grown together with two Mekong High plants, and his grow room is not the biggest. Also, his principle is to let his plants grow long and large, as he always wants to tap the full potential of only a few plants rather than cultivating many small plants instead. All the three The Ultimate seeds germinated well and fast, being grown under two 125 W CFL lights (6400 K) in the first week of growth. At the end of week one, The Doc reported “The three plants have been a little bit slow in the first days of growth. I will transplant them now to 11 litre pots and put them into the actual grow room, exposed to two Planta Star HPS lamps, 1x 600 W, 1x 400 W. One week later, vegetative growth had gotten into full gear. The three The Ultimate plants were growing very compact and indica typical, with 4-5 internodes already at a height of only about 10 cm. Leaves were looking like pure indica leaves at the beginning, being short, dark green and very broad. The Doc noted “Following Dutch Passion’s recommendation of higher nutrient dosages than usual, I give the plants somewhat more fertiliser than I generally do. After 21 days in the vegetative stage, the three plants were still growing like pure indicas, with no hint of any sativa influence in sight. Side branching was about developing strongly, while the plants still had quite a low height of 15-20 cm. They were growing very uniformly, with thick main stems and side branches.
After 25 days, The Doc induced flowering by cutting the light cycle down to 12/12. Within the first week of flowering, all of the three plants revealed their gender which was female, indeed. The plants exhibited a stronger stretching effect now and, with 8-10 internodes, had arrived at a height of about 50 cm after the first week of flowering. After 14 days in the flowering stage, The Doc reported “Excellent side branching with plenty of flower clusters emerging from the nodes. Plants are still compact, but one Ultimate plant has become taller than the other two meanwhile, also having somewhat wider internodes. Shade leaves have become significantly longer and thinner, in fact looking like a combination of 50% sativa and 50% indica. The stretching effect still heavily continues, with the three plants having reached a height of 70-100 cm.”
Only one week later, on flowering day 21, the tallest The Ultimate plant measured already 130 in height, so it turned out plants were much taller than described by Dutch Passion. However, The Doc had left his plants in the vegetative stage longer than usual and given them much more light than an average grower. He even was happy that The Ultimate was able to achieve considerably bigger growth dimensions than expected, as his three plants were growing really great and expected to deliver a very fat yield in the end. On the calyxes and flower leaves, resin glands had meanwhile started to emerge. After 28 days of flowering, The Doc noted “All the three plants are really heavily blooming now, buds are getting dense and have a very good size already. The tallest plant now is even 160 cm tall, the two other 120 and 130 cm. That all looks highly promising.”
After 35 days of flowering, The Doc was looking at impressive The Ultimate plants, all the main stems and side branches were densely laden with thick and more and more harder buds. “The tallest plant is about building a sensationally big top cola”, The Doc reported. And after 42 days, he was amazed the buds were still keeping on heavily gaining width and density. “The top cola of the tallest plant is as long and broad as a strong man’s arm!” he enthused, and kept on doing so after 49 days of flowering: “Bud growth still is explosive, pretty amazing. All of the plants do have a very high calyx-to-leaf ratio, it’s a real cannasseur’s delight to look at these tremendous beautiful buds. And there’s not a single brown stigma yet, I’m really curious how far this will lead in the next weeks… The tallest plant now measures 170 cm in height, but seems to have stopped height growth. This is also true for the other two plants that are 145 and 150 cm tall. The plants are giving off a strong sweet scent that also has a fruity note.”
One week later, after 56 days of flowering, flower stigma withering had noticeably started and suddenly proceeded very quickly. The calyxes were already very well swollen and resin production was proper, though not abundant. But The Ultimate owes it name to other characteristics than resin opulence. After 63 days of flowering, The Doc reported “I’ve just already harvested the top colas of two plants. They were so huge and dense I feared they might fall victim to mould, although Dutch Passion has promised they are resistant to this and the air humidity in my grow room is lower than 50%. But I’m so happy with these impressive top colas that I don’t want to go for even the slightest of risks. Also, at least about 70% of the stigmas had turned brown and I didn’t expect the buds to become even heavier, at least not in relevant dimensions. After 70 days, at the end of the harvest window stated by Dutch Passion, The Doc could harvest the rest of the plants. His harvest baskets were full of thick and heavy buds. “As announced by Dutch Passion, The Ultimate exploded in the last weeks of flowering, indeed, so it is important to be patient with the plants. Also, resin production doesn’t become intense before the last third of flowering”, The Doc pointed out.
Altogether, the plants had achieved a yield of 323 grams which left The Doc well pleased of course. He dried them slowly and thoroughly, fermenting them a little bit. After the drying process had been finished, the buds smelled deliciously sweet and somewhat fruity. A real pleasure to smoke, and the high, expectedly, expressed both sides of the spectrum, starting off with a great rush of activating sativa energy and then, after a while, changing into a more body related, indica like effect. Very potent stuff it was and The Doc came to the conclusion The Ultimate had fully convinced him and lived up to the high expectations raised by Dutch Passion.
