Freddy was one of Dutch Passions original ‘Masters At Work’, he is now retired but his legacy lives on. Freddy’s Best was his last variety and it is one for the sativa fans. It combines Chocolope, Dutch Haze and other sativa/Haze genetics into a very powerful variety noted for hard, dense buds that are produced in good quantities.
Freddy’s Best gives you a rich and fresh smoke with an intensely strong high which takes a few minutes to really be felt. And then the experience begins! The high will last a long time and will seem to increase in strength as time continues. This is a genuine connoisseur stash and a fitting tribute to a great breeder.
Miha Berc (dutch-passion.nl):
great stuff. as said above, you dont need to smoke much to get nicely high, activated, motivated, great for any art. it work well with my guitar :) to put it simple, since harvest, i play more. one was really big, got 1/4kg from it. after puting 5 seeds to germinate, 2 seeds were opened after 3 days, 2 in about 10 days, 1 after 13 days. i will grow it again for sure.
Danish Pensioner (dutch-passion.nl):
whoever was this Freddy guy, I should like to meet him and shake his hands. Yes, this is a beauty, a real sativa that makes me wonder why do some people want anything else? VERY strong is the key message here, a small joint is more than enough. It was easy to grow in soil, no special remarks. In flower she likes lots of light for the best yield. Bud clooms are a very good size, here you have no complaints, Smell is a bit Hazey, with lemon and fruit, It makes you want to enjoy her! On a personal level it reminds me of some of the old Thai weed. The flavour is good but the high is better even than that. Smoke it, wait, a smile is on your face. Your body is relaxed, the world is good. You can enjoy everything but maybe it is better to do nothing. Some music, or a 'walk' in my wheelchair. This is the feel good weed and the favourite for me. So Freddy, if you are in the Denmark you have a new friend here. It is a Danish Passion for me. Freddys Best is recommended, best of Dutch Passion. You need no other variety, JA!
Sam de sativa man (dutch-passion.nl):
Freddys Best. Ya, I say very, very good. I only smoke sativa as you can tell from my name. This is one variety for the long term. No special comments from growing it, it is a healthy variety and grows well. I harvest and dry for 1 week, then cure for a while. It gets better with long cure. The first smoke of this was after I had not smoked anything for 2 weeks and I made the joint a bit too big. Man, this is stoney weed. I was taken for a long ride, like a dream while I was still awake. Incredible, but also a little too much if honest. A small joint is already enough for this guy, I have cuttings growing from original seed and will keep this one, it scorched me. A strong sativa, quality also and good harvest.. Freddy did a good job here, bring him back I say. Or not?
after all my experiences, I still wonder how this grower managed to breed in the dutch cubensis strain :D; and one more remark for the advanced smoker: as far as I am concerned there is no remarkable speed in the effect of this variety, but if you have a certain "mental" horizon, you may enter deeply to some incredible pictures and feelings, it's like a soft running stream and you are the one who tells it where to go... but the most mindblowing experience is always the beginning, a soft lift off, and then - if you stare for instance at a good camp fire, you suddenly find yourselt at the beginning of the development of the human spirit, where your imagination creates pictures in the fire glow.... ok! maybe it's all just up to the individual who dares to encounter Sherif Freddy, but this here is my own point of view! Greetings to you my soul brother, I got the message
great mold resistance, probably the only stain which had almost no marks of molds while some other strains suffered a lot from more humid weather conditions that came in August 2014 in central europe, great smell, very unique, I can barely describe it, it might be funny but it reminds me some kind of mixture between bacon and spicy thing! high is insane!

This Is GRADE A smoke, it will send you on a Sativa trip that is WAY up and just keeps going up!!! It is an awesome ride and I would recommend her to anyone who love sativa!!! The smell has got some notes of licorice, chocolate, tied together with that sweet canna smell!! A connoisseur high!!!
Grow Report #1
This weeks grow review came from ‘The Joker’, a Dutch grower and regular Dutch Passion customer who wanted to try a new sativa Haze variety which would bring some fresh sativa genetics to his indoor garden. ‘The Joker’ enjoys his pot but is not a ‘heavy’ consumer of pot, for him the purpose of growing is simply to get a few jars of top quality cannabis, preferably top-quality sativa varieties which are not always easy to find in the coffee shops.
The Joker grew a 5-pack of feminized Freddy’s Best seeds and got 5 female plants. The following comments are from The Joker himself.
I fell in love with a variety called ‘Cannalope Haze’ a few years ago. It was one of those coffeeshop varieties that became legendary but the original was extremely hard to get hold of and these days it is impossible. The best Haze varieties are extremely special to the fans of the genre, and although I don’t smoke a great deal these days I am still a lover of the very best sativa varieties. You can still get them in the better coffee shops but you have to know where to look. Even in Amsterdam a lot of the old-school connoisseur growers prefer to grow their own rather than risk the coffeeshop selections.
Freddy’s Best was recommended to me since Cannalope Haze is one of the key genetics used to create Freddy’s Best. The Cannalope was present together with a blend of Dutch Haze and Chocolate Thai. The Thai genetics are particularly appealing since they give a quite unique uplift, and if you are a fan of sativa’s then you already know just what I mean.
The Freddy’s Best seeds grew steadily through veg, and they did stretch quite a lot in bloom. This should be expected since they are heavy with old-school sativa gene’s. I estimate that the plants tripled in size when they were switched to flowering. This is a photoperiod variety, so the plants were grown vegatively under 18 hours of daily light and then flipped into bloom by reducing daily light to 12 hours.
The Freddy’s Best needed ‘average’ strength nutrients in the early stages but can take stronger nutrients near the end of bloom.Rather than bore everyone with the usual details of how this variety grew I would prefer to talk about how she smoked. That is the reason I selected this variety. And I have to say that this is a variety which is ALL about the quality of the high. This is an unusual variety, not the kind of heavy stone that puts you on the sofa. This is a highly psychedelic variety which will get your pulse racing and remind you of the ‘Thai Sticks’ that you used to find in the Amsterdam coffeeshops back in the 1980’s. At first you smoke this variety and you wonder when you will get stoned. The taste is fresh with a strong tangy flavour of Haze. On the exhale you will notice chocolate and some citrus flavours. For the first 5 minutes you feel the high building. Then after another 5 minutes you realise that you are far more stoned than you ever imagined. For a brief moment you sit there thinking ‘I hope I don’t get any higher than this’, yet the high keeps rising and rising though not in an unpleasant way. The worst thing that can happen is that the phone rings!
For me it’s difficult to stay indoors with such a strong and mentally stimulating variety, I really need to be outdoors riding my bike, sailing my small boat or fishing by the canal. This is a variety that transforms music into a magical symphony of beats that you never knew were there. It’s a variety that takes an ordinary afternoon in the garden and changes it into a masterpiece of liberated personal enjoyment.
I always choose the best days and times before I enjoy a joint of Freddy’s Best, its such a strong and beautiful variety that I like to choose the best moment before I light the joint. It’s too classy to waste. I find it best to choose a time when I can really relax completely with no other activities planned and with no interruptions! This is by far the best weed I have smoked since some of the 1980’s sativa’s reached the Amsterdam coffeeshops.
The high is an intense ride for the first hour or two and then it levels off into a soothing and deeply relaxing ‘stone’. Who would I recommend this for? Probably I would say that Freddy’s Best is a must-grow variety for anyone looking for a well-bred sativa, if you like a strong mental high then this is for you. But be warned, this really is very strong. I still can’t finish a small joint of this variety. Freddy’s Best is actually a pretty good yielder, like other sativa’s the blooms can grow to be very long. But this variety is not about yield in my opinion, it’s all about the re-birth of a traditional old-school sativa Haze which will leave you feeling that your brain has been elevated into a new dimension of comfort, peace and euphoria.
Sorry for talking too much about the effects of this variety rather than the growing her. But this is a truly special variety and for me this variety is all about the quality of the high. Of the 5 plants I kept one as a mother plant, she is easy to take cuttings from and this is a variety that will always be in my grow room.
Grow Report #2
This weeks blog follows a grow by experienced Dutch grower “The Kweker” who has made a detailed series of 12 YouTube Video’s covering every part of his successful grow.
Freddy’s Best was the final variety produced by original Dutch Passion breeder ‘Freddy’, the man behind varieties such as Mazar, Blueberry, Orange Bud, Passion #1, Strawberry Cough and others. It was designed for the sativa connoisseur and has genetics from our own Dutch Haze together with Chocolope (a hybrid of Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze).
The Kweker grows in a hydro system using 18 litre containers and two 400W HPS lamps with a 4-week veg period and 9 weeks flowering period. He grows in ‘Mapito’ a popular blend of rockwool and inert polyurethane flakes. He describes Freddys Best as a good yielder of very strong cannabis.
Here are comments from The Kweker himself:
“Freddy Best grew very fast, maybe because of the hydro system I use. She coped well when I fed with strong nutrients (high EC), that can be very stressful for some varieties, but Freddy’s Best is a robust one. Some plants do something bad when they get a high EC. But Freddy’s Best is a very easy plant who can also take high temperatures (32°C+).
In the beginning they are sweet and easy. When they get bigger they are like big mamma’s...hehe.... they go for it. The buds are very hard like stones.... you can hit a nail into the wall with the buds.
I grow in a tent with a dimmable 400W HPS with ‘super lumens’ as an option at the end. I also used a 400 HPS Greenpower lamp that gives 10% more than the other lamp. I have good extraction from my grow tent so the temperature is mostly controlled apart from the weeks with 30°C summer weather - that’s bad for the room. But at least the plants coped well with the high temperatures...no problems.
Germination was very fast, just 48 hours with 2x55 watt fluoro lamps. In total around 4 weeks veg time under 18 hours light/6 hours dark. Flowering: like Dutch Passion say, takes about 8 weeks.... I gave a full 9 weeks and used B.A.C. nutrients throughout.
The weed itself is very strong. My friends say that the effect after 7 minutes is hard like a haze. The smell is sweet and soft, the taste is also sweet and DANGEROUS because it’s soft to smoke, so don’t smoke too much. Like I say, after 7-8 minutes it’s like a BOMB....there is the Dutch Haze mixed in it....hehe.... it has a strong and long lasting HIGH.
For beginner growers it is an excellent plant with a high production of THC in a short time. Grows hard and BIG, plants were all about 130cm and give you big hard buds. The little buds down under the plants were also completely full with THC trichomes.
Take an extra week longer to flower them if you don’t have super lumens....it will have a good effect on the buds, taste and effect of the green gold. The plant is a very strong sort and takes a lot of stress, useful especially for beginner growers”
