Power Plant (Dutch Passion)
A reliable sativa for indoors and greenhouses, it produces big harvests even if grown by beginners. You'll probably have to LST it to control its height. Power Plant doesn't mind topping and develops a lot of side branches that may have to be supported. It is highly productive outdoors in Mediterranean type of climate with harvests by the end of October. A high flower-to-leaf ratio makes manicuring really easy.
A strong energetic high, sometimes even psychedelic. For parties, dancing, walks and friendly gatherings. It relieves pain and tiredness, relaxes tense muscles, makes your eyes sharper and your mind more creative, stimulates you to think deep thoughts. A slight burn-out feeling is possible.

As soon as it was released in 1997 Power Plant became an instant success, a heavy yielding and highly stable classic. Power Plant is a mostly-Sativa variety from South Africa and the original version is only available from Dutch Passion. It is a heavy yielder for indoor, greenhouse and outdoor gardens (does well in Mediterranean climates) with bumper yields of 500-600 grams/m2 and is popular with recreational and medical users. Power Plant has been a key part of our collection and has been regarded as a Dutch Passion legend alongside, and on a par with, White Widow. It was only ever inbred by us, never hybridised, and remains a pure and stable strain with a great and well deserved reputation. When it was first released every coffeeshop wanted Power Plant on their menu and it is still found in Dutch coffeeshops today.
Power Plant is rich in THC and delivers a formidable strong „up‟ high with a fresh flavour, smooth/soft smoke and sweet after-taste. The plants reach 1-1.5m tall and the buds are often 30+cm long, with small leaves in them. Outdoors the flowering starts late but the plants ripen quickly and are usually ready around the 2nd week of October. Indoors, the flowering starts one week after reducing the light cycle to 12 hours and a total of 8 weeks is typical.
Because this is a purebred, unhybridised strain it is very uniform, consistent and predictable. Power Plant is one of those uncomplicated original classic strains that everyone should try. Stable, highly potent and with great harvests.
I grew this strain 3 times back in my soil days, I would rate the quality about a 7 and the yield really does live up to it name. Being mostly sativa I found you have to wait longer for pre flowers and have to heavily LST, top or supercrop to keep the height down.
I don't like indica's these days - so I have been growing Power Plant on-and-off since 2009. It is the strongest weed I have grown, and waaay stronger than the weed you can buy around here these days. In the old days you could buy good sativa marijuana locally but nowadays you can't, so I grow my own. Where I live there is no chance of being able to grow Power Plant outdoors, so I grow her indoors in coco-fibre. I use canna nutrients and find it a reliable and easy way to grow Power Plant. I always flower her for 9 weeks and the yields are really generous so I thank DP for that. But forget the yield, i think the quality of the grass is what makes Power Plant worth growing and what makes her a special one. Just grind a bit up for a small bong hit and you realise that this herb will last you a long time.
i agree cracking sativa great smoke well worth a look guys n gals
Hi, just recently had the delight of smoking this delightful strain from Dutch Passion. Distinctive aroma upon inspection, and really nice taste when smoked. Good yield's and grinds up nicely for smoking.
Incremental Improvements (dutch-passion.nl):
Dutch Passion Power Plant is the best sativa you can get. The yields are great, she is easy to clone and the smoke is massive. I have grown Power Plant ever since I tried it in a coffee shop in 2009. DP have kept this a stable breeding line and you can tell in the quality of the plants and bud. Well done Dutch boys!
Plant was grown using BOGS methods and feeding regim along with added Cal-Mag, Sweet, & Liquid Karma.
I germed 3 Powerplant seeds using the paper towel method
Vegged for 7 weeks under a 400w MH and topped once at around 12 inches.. Ended up with just 1 prime female.
Transplanted into a 5gal pot and put into 12/12. The 2 tops took off like wild fire growing upwards but the rest of the plant stayed pretty much at the same height. I ended up tieing the 2 main tops sideways so that I could keep a much more even canopy under the 1000w HPS.
12/12 for 62 days, Plain H20 from day 45 on, 48hrs darkness b4 the chop. Plant was harvested on day 64.
Dried for 8 days on screens then into Glass Jars it went. Yield was 3.25 ounces on this plant. Buds are not very dense at all, I have read this is common in this strain.
The taste was really disapointing when fresh compared to the AK-47 that grew along with it. It has now been in cure for almost 3 weeks and that has all changed drastically.
The smoke after the cure is extremely smooth, I can take a monster rip and it still will not make me cough. Its a great daytime smoke, I can feel the tense muscles in my neck and sholders relax on exhale its the most relaxing smoke I have had the pleasure of smoking thus far. It makes me feel warm on the inside and as happy as a pig n shit. lol
As for taste when I 1st load up the green bowl and touch it with a lighter it tastes really hashy, but on exhale it has a fruity/lemony taste.
I simply cannot stay out of this jar of weed, my freinds prefer the AK-47 that grew along with it for its heady super stoned feeling, but I like this shit for its relaxing uplifting aspects.
It was grown with 6 AK-47's and only 1 of the AK's out weighed the Powerplant. It was my 2nd grow and total yield was a just over 1lb.
In the morning when I wake up I take 3 good sized hits, roll my ass outta bed and i can maintain a buzz for around 2hrs it seems.... I made sum black out brownies using 1&1/4ounce of trim to get 1/2 cup butter and its the 1st time I have ever caught a buzz from eating something... I managed to wolf down 2 of them yesterday morning, then last nite I ate 2 more and toked a sticky ball of bubblehash... I passed out about 2hrs afterwards... I woke up at 5am on the couch with the TV still on..... I couldn't fight the THC train anymore..... BROWNIE BUZZ RULES!! I have new found confidence in cooking with cannabis.. Is this heaven?
I am now Vaping the Powerplant...... Tastes very Medicinal when vaping.... Its gogo weed for sure as I packed my vape after 1 bowl, I have 1/2 of my house cleaned...
#1-Strain:> PowerPlant from Dutch Passion
#2-Appearance:> Compact dense buds and they actually look so "real" I know that sounds stupid as fuck to say that weed looks "real", but in my trippy sativa baked head it sounds legit to me. Real as in, some weed looks "tired", "haggard" or "lacklustre", well this weed looks "Vibrant" and real. I've read reviews online where some people get carried away calling it "a visual masterpiece" and remarking how the "trichomes even reflect in different shades of color ranging from bright white to burnt yellow. So strange looking it is almost like this strain was actually grown in a power plant." In fact my description of it as "Vibrant and Real" looking sounds positively normal now after reading that! The colours stand out and thats what makes it 'virbrant'' looking. 'Real' as in, when you buy some bud and you look at it and INSTANTLY know its real good weed just by the colours, compact dense nuggs and aromatic smell. Put it this way you dont have to look twice to check its not 'GritWeed'.
#3-Taste:> 8/10. Pleasant and smooth, not harsh in any way. I found the taste mild, very smooth. I've seen on other review pages people saying it is "spicy with earthy undertones and citrus aftertaste" but i dont see how it can be all 3 things. To me it was mild, pleasant and smooth and if anything had a mild mild spice taste to it. I wouldnt say it tasted of citrus at all IMHO.
#4-Aroma:> 7/10. Earthy type Pine needle smell. Like a cheap incense stick burning. It's more aromatic than pungent and although it doesnt stink out your home and have you reaching for the Febreeze anytime the front door goes. It still packs a punch smell wise, not too much though.
#5-High/Stone type:> 9/10. Very Nice. You know that "clear" head buzz you get with many sativas? Well this isnt it! You can tell theres some Indica in the mix cos it without doubt gives you an Indica like "stoney" feeling but the head trance soon kicks in and gives you plenty to think about! The clear headedness that Sativas are known for is overtaken by the lucid thoughts and trance like state it gives you once you've been smoking it in abundance. Although its fair to point out that if you only smoked a little then i dare say you would have a clear head and could go about your business. But i've been smoking it in Blunts, heavily packed spliffs and late night/early morning pipes which pretty much renders me "at home" for the rest of the day. Perfect weed to be smoing on the last bank holiday weekend before Christmas.
#6-Source:> 8/10. Reliable source or SWIM as he's known as! SWIM is the middle man between customer and cultivator. The guy only deals in Sativas which is a bonus for me SWIM says he got them from SWIM who grew his batch from some clones that SWIMs Uncle SWIM gave him. Uncle SWIM sourced them from Dutch Passion originally.
#7-Price:> 9/10. £90 a half oz and £170 an Oz but the guy knocks £10 of the asking price to cover my taxi to and from his house.Believe it or not i ordered a half oz and then when i 'tried before i buyed', i thought "Fuck it, this shit's nice i'll take some to last me" ..... Only thing is though it hasn't and i've been smoking like a Rastaman, doing blunts instead of joints. I think thats more to do with the fact i enjoy the stone immensely. (and have been enjoying the last of the summer holidays)
#8-Potency:> 8.5/10... (would have been an easy 9/10 if id grown it myself) Like i've said the consistency is good and for me, each time i've smoked PowerPlant it seems to get better, stronger. While i wouldnt say it ranks as a 10 for potency (compared to other sativas like Widow, Jack Herrer, Purple Haze). I'd give to a solid 8.5 for the fact it is consistently potent. I think if i'd personally grown this though i'd be giving it an easy 9 out of 10 but as i paid for it 8 & Half out of ten it is.
#9-Overall Rating:> 8.5/10 (Would have been 9/10 if id grown it but im always a little more critical of other peoples weed. ESPECIALLY WHEN IM PAYING FOR IT!) Im not rating it on a one off experience as i've smoked it several times over the last 18 months but recently i have been buying it in small weights like Ounces and Half Ounces so I've been smoking it heavier and the more i smoke it and become accustomed to, the more it seems to fuck me up. (In the nicest possible way). The one thing i've noticed about it is, it IS consistently good. But i am a sativa connoisseur so i must award it an overall 8 and a Half. Again consistency being the key and again, it woulda got a 9+ if i'd grown it myself.
#10-Overall Description:> 8.5/10. Compact and fresh looking buds. Dense but still retaining some moisture. Smokes lovely, smell nice and tastes nice. The stone is ABOVE AVERAGE by Sativa standards and not 'run of the mill' sativa. It offers something different for the reuglar sativa smoker. For that reason alone its a 'must try' for sativa lovers and its a 'must have' for cultivators who have the patience to wait a little longer for Sativas to fully flower. Worth pointing out both SWIM and DutchPassion both rate this as "a heavy hitter" in the yield department. Also noted the fact it ripens faster than a lot of other sativas. Indoor growers can expect to see the flowering phase take effect after only a week into the 12/12 stage.
#11-Would you Reccomend:> 10/10. Absolutely. To anyone who enjoys a Sativa dom strain, yes! I would totally recommend. It's hard to describe because one minute your in a trance like state then the next minute your over analyzing life and paying attention to the minutiae. Before you know it you've been awake all night.... but you've got some shit done for a change. It gets a recommendation from me for that alone!
#12-Smokers General Comments:> Solid 8.5/10 Overall for price, look, taste, smell and stone. As Sativas go its up there with the best of them. I've smoked a lot of sativa over the past year, as it's what i prefer to buy, and this Power Plant has been consistently good each time i've came across it. It actually surpasses most other sativas iv been smoking in the past year (and i've smoked a few). Namely Amnesia, (firm favourite and ever present) Tangerine Dream (a staple of my MJ recently), Lemon Haze (Which i enjoy but think its overhyped), Silver Haze (meh) & the reliable Ice (an old friend). Although i would stop short of saying it even comes close to the big guns of White Widow, Jack Herrer & Diesel. But a fair and respectable ranking for it is not far below white widow and not far above Amnesia.
If anyone reading this prefers sativas then you'll thoroughly enjoy powerplant. More than anything it is consistently potent, not only that but SWIM tells me its a "heavy hitter" in the yield department!!!
i was pretty much disappointed.
Very strong grow, great outdoors.......
High is quite intense!! Overall great!!
Two years ago, a guy called Cloudz received a Power Plant cutting grown from original Dutch Passion seed by one of his friends. He let this lady grow into a big mother plant and from there on started a lot of Power Plant cultivation cycles. He was so enthusiastic about the results of this strain and filling so many gardens with it, that I gave him the nickname "Mr. Power Planter". He did his first Power Plant crop on a drip feeder rockwool system with Libra containers. Growth was very compact for a mostly sativa strain, no stretch effect and very moderate side-branching. Leafs were dark green, narrow and sharply serrated. The plants matured after 58 days of flowering, bearing super rich fruits: Everywhere incredibly tight and dense rounded buds that were very resinous and nearly leafless - Mr. Power Planter could almost throw away those scissors. The plants gave an average yield of 42 grams at a height of 70 to 80 cm, given 5 days in the vegetative stage. The aroma of the fresh buds was sweet and spicy and revealed a delicate olibanum hint of taste when it came to smoking. This stuff definitely puts you on your feet again if you feel weary, delivering a concentrated load of energising sativa power that quickly rushes into your brain. Not recommended for smoking in the evening before you want to go to bed - you just won't fall asleep. Better use it for supporting activities such as dancing and creative thinking. Mr. Power Planter cultivated Power Plant also on soil several times and was very satisfied with the results, too. When his first mother plant had become aged, he put her into flowering. This specimen should make history as "The Queen", as it grew into the mightiest product plant Mr. Power Planter ever had, with lots of giant colas, yielding a total of 120 grams of finest sinsemilla. Power Plant - a strain that certainly deserves its name.

Sativa 80 / Indica 20
Origins: South African strains
Flowering: 56-63 days
Harvest: late October
Power Plant derives from dagga, the sativa-dominant pot grown in South Africa and its neighboring countries. South African varieties are famous for their fast growth and early finish, in contrast to the slow growing season required by most tropical sativas. Power Plant develops almost visibly, finishing before halloween outdoors in the netherlands and even sooner in the semi-arid, mediterranean climates like Spain. This is a plant for growers who want strong sativa, ASAP.
Flexible and adaptive, Power Plant grows well indoors, whether in soil or hydro, multi-branched or in a sea of green. If pruned, she develops multiple compact buds that measure around 15 centimeters (6 inches) long. if she isn’t pruned, she grows three or four big 20-centimeter (8 inch) buds and lots of smaller popcorn. Power Plant’s foliage stays olive green with thin, seven-point leaves. Her strong, pungent smell may require odor control in regions where inconspicuousness is a must. She prefers an easy hand with fertilization, and her rapid growth is very uniform: plants finish at an even 70cm indoors (just over 2 feet), or 100 cm (3 feet) outdoors.
This power sativa’s smoke tastes sharp and lights up the neural networks after a few hits. Many sativa highs can be sustained during a serious working day, but Power Plant may prove too strong for work settings. Instead, she’s rocket fuel for a launch at 4:20 pm or later. With an uplifting, mostly mental high, Power Plant is quite compatible with dinner and freewheeling conversation; however, many sativa fans will also enjoy tripping out with a few tokes of this variety and a sketchbook or an interactive game.
This report is certainly right about it being a sativa that makes you tired. This is one of the very few sativas ive smoked that gave me a really tehargic feeling after the high had passed .
Most other sativas and even indicas dont do that to me so i found that strange for it to happen with power plant.
maybe because power plant is an inbred pure sativa which means 0% CBD… CBD is actually good for the brain where THC is not. CBD is whats reponsible for the creativity , its been proven to be a memory booster amd aloooot more . thc on the other hand is just good for being high . CBD is generally found in indica strains .
so im wondering if the lack of CBD is causing a crappy comedown
