The Church (Green House Seeds)
The Church is characterized by a very slow start in veg but catches up in flowering, so the plants become big and quite high-yielding. The strain is rather uniform. The more common pheno has great many side branches, short internodes and is ideal for ScrOG and LST. Do not fim the main stem because it won't do your plant any good. The Church is really mold-resistant - exactly as the breeder claims. It can take a lot of nutrients. The buds become dense, a little bit on a leafy side but abundantly covered by layers of 'frost'. The strain is almost impossible to kill and would be ideal for beginners if not for less than perfect germination rates and the tendency of some plants to hermie.
A truly hybrid high, it starts as one thing and then turns into another. It also depends on the time of harvest: early harvest means more heady smoke, late harvest equals more stone. It relaxes your body without making you sleepy. In smaller doses it lets you function. The strongest phenos and larger doses lead to numbing of the muscles and relieve pain.
One can use it as a wake and bake strain in smaller doses but it is more comfortable to smoke it at the end of the day, especially with some friends.
Opinions differ. Many users call it unusual, both in the positive and negative sense. Others think that the Church has a pretty generic flavor. It is less sweet than peppery and spicy. The smoke is mild.

This plant was a real slow starter, with short, indica dominant growt. The leaves have a unique serrated edge that i could pick out of a crowd without a problem. It likes a nice heavy feeding compared to other plants i grow but will do okay with less. After 5 weeks of growth, this plant gave me a 10 clones and went into the flowering room under the 400w hps. The first couple weeks only saw a small amount of stretch.
Flowered for 60 days, pulled when trichs were about 10% amber, a little earlier then i usually chop, but i was feeling impatient so deal with it!
GREAT HONEST STRAIN IT OFFERS WHAT IT SAY ON INFO
BOUGHT THIS BACK 4/5 YRS AGO FROM A G.H.S MULTICOLOUR FEMINISED SEEDS PACK, THIS STRAIN I'VE KEPT GOING AS IT'S A GREAT YIELDER & ONE STICKY, STCKY MO.FO TOO, WITH A NICE COUCH LOCK IF YOU SMOKE DURING DAY :oP...I ALSO GREW HAWAIN SNOW FROM SAME PACKET, THIS IS ANOTHER PLANT I'M GONNA RE-ADD TO MY COLLECTIONN, AS THE FROSTING ON IT WAS AMAZEBALL'S \o/.... JST FINISHED KILLA-WATT & BLUE-HASH SEEDISM & DINAFEM, PREFERRED BLUE-HASH, THOUGH DENSITY OF THE BUD'S I FOUND MOULD IN A FEW NUGGET'S EVEN THOUGH ISN'T A DAMP AREA WELL VENTILATED... BUT CHURCH IS ONE TO ADD TO YA COLLECTION, ESPECIALLY IF YOUR SPACE LIMITED, AS WITH RIGHT PRUNING & SHAPING, THIS YIELD'S THE STICKIEST, EARTHIEST COUCH LOCK SMOKE, I WONT BE GETTING BORED OF :oD
its all in all a good strain but it tends to have hemafrodites. but i would still recomend it to begginers
Easy grow, not much stretch. Superb aroma and taste, and good heady high.
I must say that I've tried a very nice Hawaian Snow some years ago... but all the other strains from them i've tried, Arjan's Haze, WW, SSH, Church, Lemon Skunk, JH, some others probably and even another Hawaian Snow modern packet 2 years ago (trying to find the great stuff from years ago), were just standard weed, potent for sure but they all tasted and smoked and got u high in the same way with very slight differences! But if you are fine with that, nothing to loose then!
Can say some very, very good things of super lemon haze and trainwreck.
On a shitload of others though(white widow, white rhino, bubba kush, haw. snow, arjans haze 1, church, strawberry haze, and super silver haze).... i'll just bite my tongue and say that they were no where near up to my standards.
i read alot around town about them, and honestly i kinda didnt like alot of what i heard and read. but at some point i wanted to try some new things, got one of the ind/sat mix pack. five beans, two sativas (hawaiian and arjans 1) and three indica, great white shark or whatever it is, church, and cheese.
gave the two sativas to a friend with more headroom. havent heard about them since. i popped the three indicas myself. the shark never did anything. it was a beast of a pink seed. the other two, cheese and church, came up fine. vegged great. plenty strong and quick too. flowered them out, the cheese ended up being pretty large. great flavor and taste. i like it better than my previous cheeseplant, from dinafem. the church (which btw is 70% sativa according to them, not indica dom. like op suggested) came out with rock hard nugs that have a noticeable pick me up. i kept both plants for more testing. that is pretty decent for me, i figure ive sorted hundreds of seeds and i was surprised at how good these two single femmed beans were. hopefully ill be running the greenhouse cheese next to the exodus cut soon, im looking forward to it. anyway, my two cents. heres some pics.
well explain why my ghsc trainwreck(a thai cross....), church, haw. snow, arjans haze and lemon haze did not hermie(but were well below ave. plants cept tw and slh), while growing along side the bubba kush, white widow, white rhino and nevilles haze which hermied so bad some had to be culled week 5.... all grown indoors in the same room under hps's in a ideal enviroment.... yeah i've been at this game a long time(20+ years, 17+ indoors) so i got shit dialed in.....
look i just tell it how it is and all i know is ghsc won't get anymore of my money.
I have grown slh, lemon skunk and the church. I liked slh and LS a lot and found them to be very good smoke, but unmanageable due to their height and branchiness or I would have kept them forever. I didnt care for the church, but a couple friends really liked it and it was a huge producer.

I can tell you I had a bean of it and it didn't pop. I have REALLY bad luck with GHS
its not bad but not too dank or strong...
I grew The Church once. Nice orange pistils at the end of harvest, with some solid nugs. I remember that when I ground up my herb I got a TON of keif (many times the usual, so unusual, I remember it).
I actually just finished jarring up 2 Church's that I grew outdoor this year. The high is very pleasant, It's not a knock you on your ass high by any means but it def. packs a nice punch. Very smooth smoke. Classic skunk taste. Bought a 5 pack of em lost 3 to groundhogs.
I would say it's a decent mix between the two, leaning more toward cerebral but it eases you into a nice couchlock
I germed 10 Church fems, 6 sprouted, some were slow to sprout and weak. Due to other problems I destroyed all but the best plant. The fem I saved turned out to be a male. Maybe I did something wrong or just got a bad batch but I'm not buying from them again.
here is my experiance with this
i grew 1 of these from seed in 6.5 ltr pot, soil, organic feed, harvested at 7 weeks i got 1.5 oz dry, it went bonkers when i fed it a pk rocket boost at week 4-5, it did have a strange smell during flowering not like regular bud it done the job though.
I grew church, outdoors. Best smoke out of 7 different strains. Big producer.

Price: $95/quarter oz
Looks: Medium green dense nugs with burnt orange hairs. Nice frost coating as well.
Smell: Strong Cannabis/kush smell.
Taste: A light and sweet smoke that didn’t expand and had a bit of a fruity/berry taste.
Buzz Type: Very strong body high.
Buzz Length: LONG – I was buzzed for about 2-3 hours.
Best Medicinal Use: Muscle tension (back/traps), joint pain (shoulder/knees), and insomnia.
Overall: River Valley Collective actually warned me about this strain – stating it was ridiculously strong (all 3 bud tenders and the owner/master grower said the same thing). As an experienced toker, I figured it couldn’t be that bad…and was shocked to see I was wrong. The Church provided a body numbing buzz that hit me square in the face after 1 hit, and rid me of all aches/pains almost immediately. A couple more hits intensified the buzz, leaving me spacy and uncoordinated. I was rather “keyed up” mentally and physically sore from sparring when I smoke this, and it immediately relaxed me and provided a great night of rest. The Church was darn near a religious experience
When I had some locally grown Church, it was really good. A definite favorite!
When I talked to OMM, he said it is a pretty stable strain, and pretty cheap seeds!
One of the best indica's I've ever tried.
i chopped some early and it was super intense. very much a heady buzz
This strain (3 plants) was in my first medical grow last winter. There were no problems at all with the grow. It finished relatively quickly compared to the other strains in the room (super lemon haze, nyc diesel, monster). It has become a favorite. Each plant yielded about an ounce of medicine. It has a very earthy musky smell in the jar and it smokes smoothly. We find it potent as a pain reliever; the high is strong but usually not too distracting. Two of the plants had very fat buds and those we cloned for the next grow. The clones were top cropped and it looks like that will improve yield at two or three weeks before harvest.
A further note on The Church...
I am in a grow of six plants, four are The Church, cloned from the best plants of my first grow. Two plants are Super Lemon Haze. Last week we had some rain and high humidity. I didn't increase my night time ventilation fan time and the humidity got to 80%. The next morning on inspecting my plants I noted one of the SLH plants had mold in the two biggest colas. I cut them off and burned them in the woodstove. The other plant was fine and The Church lived up to its reputation for resisting mold.
Check your plants every day and ruthlessly get rid of mold if all your best efforts fail to prevent it.
As my friend THsea has said, this a very stable, low priced, very good indica strain. I've grown it 4 times and will continue to do so.
She's a 10 for me.
The Church from Greenhouse Seed Co. is a very stable, easy to grow strain that is also mold resistant. It is a slow starter and a very heavy feeder. Packs a serious punch. It is all I grow anymore.
im growing the church cropping 2 plants/clones every 2 weeks in a cycle. my humidity was very high around 75% lights on 90% lights off as im growing in a basement. I have had a spot of mold on my first plants as id turn my outtake off at night and the humidity shot up to 99%. any other strain would grow shrooms lol
I have nothing but good things to say about "The Church". Everybody that has tried it took no more than 2 hits and did not want anymore sometimes just a one hitter, it,s straightt to the head very quick that's why their done. I like to smoke a little more maybe two bowls. It's great for listening to live music and even playing. Had a band tell me it was great , it's very social , mine was very light on the body, just relaxed not numbing. You want INDICA. This is like 70/30 S/I.
Long lasting buzz or high. Works great for a wake and bake.

1 of 2 seeds germinated.

Nutes/Soil: Sunshine Mix #4 with hollands secret 3 part.
Yield: about a half oz + a bunch of popcorn and trim, not bad for what was effectively a chopped up mother.
We'll get a better idea of its potential this next grow.
Bag Appeal: 9/10 Nice frosty nugs that are deep green with dark brown/orange pistils.
It could be a little denser, but this strain is touted for its anti-mold properties, so i can look past it.
Smell: Very unique, like nothing else i've grown. A combination of coffee grounds and rotten garbage, but in a good way. :hump:
Taste: Strange enough, alot like the smell. Very smooth, earthy smoke. Leaves your breath stinking like the chron. My friend claims it tastes like the smell of patchoilli, but i don't really think so.
The High: A bit of a creeper, after smoking my first joint of this stuff i was questioning its potancy. So I went for a walk to the store. 2 steps out of my door it hit me like a ton of marshmellow clouds. A very euphoric high that lasts a good 40-60 minutes and is followed by a mellow but apparent comedown.
I would say that the high is semi-functional, a little stoney for a wake and bake, but i do it anyhow. What can i say, i like to live dangerously... high.
Comments: Overall, i really like it.
This is a unique plant that is truly something special. The second you get a whiff of it your mouth starts watering, despite the fact that it smells like rank garbage with a coffee undertone. It will be a feature in my garden for a long time.
I would recommend this to beginner and experienced grower alike.
I currently have a handfull of these in my ebb and flow area, I will post some pics of those tomorrow.:peace:
If you want a "classic" strain with a familiar flavour, try something else.
If you want a fast and frosty plant with a earthy stank and a nice hybrid high, this plant is definately worth a try.
I am 3 weeks into flowering and expecting good things. So far it has been easy peasy lemon squeezy to grow and it can take some serious Nute Packing.
I will say that it has been a bizarre plant as far as smell and growth is concerned. The scent is weird and I keep hoping it get's more fruity but I guess not.
I guess they don't look that different now that I compare them :)
I will agree that this bitch has been a Slooooow grower. I vegged for 45 days and she was only around 8" when I went into flower ( I did top though).
The one really good thing I like about the Church is that she showed pre-flowers really early! -- Dont sweat the slow growth too much, it will catch up mid flowering.
I've found with all of GH's strains i've grown that preflowers come quickly and apparently.
I have to agree about Church being a slow starter and about the serated edges of the leaves. When they first sprouted their little green wings they didn't grow much at all. I'm still twittling my thumbs waiting for them to kick in. Hell, I've got a G13 Thai Skunk that has passed them up and their like 2 weeks younger!
mine dont smell bad they are both at week9 got 1-2 more weeks for both but chopping one this friday. if you lean in and smell them mine kind of smell skunky, but i dont have a carbon filter at all and i havent noticed a single smell since i started. hope that helps
Wow, the finished harvest looks great. I have one mama plant that I started flowering a week ago. It is showing hairs everywhere and is growing taller at least an inch a day. I started 12/12 at 18" (whoops!) and think that at this rate, she'll outgrow my space. She's already at 26"! What was the final height of yours? I haven't topped her yet (first grow).
yeah i got the same thing from this strain it started of slow i let it grow with 4 other strains and it was the smallest
i grew the church once before, and i will have to agree it's a very slow vegging plant with medium yields. very nice smoke though, more of a stony buzz. my church looked identical to yours; did you have fun trimming all the small leaves? my freebie pheno was very leafy. this strain is also very nice for making hash with.
I've grown the church from greenhouse a few times and here's my opinion. It has always yellowed up and even dropped a lot of the fan leaves before I had a chance to harvest. This could be my mistake because I don't check my nutes for the ph or the tds/ec readings. The smell after curing is not good at all. The smell doesn't make you want to smoke it if you have never had it. When you smoke it, it doesn't taste good at all. But let me tell you, I've let it grow to day 70 under a 4 foot T5 florescent and it is a knocker. A knocker is the kind of weed that lays you out cold as if you got knocked out. It only takes 2 tokes to get a really good buzz. If you smoke anymore than that then you can just kiss the rest of your day bye-bye, you will need a nap. I'm sure if I dialed in the ph, and tds/ec than it would be even more outstanding. But just from what I've done, I was really impressed with this strain. I used Fox Farms Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom. I used Molasses from Whole Foods Market for my carbs.
My Church smelt like burnt coffee. Was super delish. To bad she was a fem n had ta go

In this video the guys who bred The Church show the plant's development from the first week of flowering till harvest which was made at week 9. This particular pheno is very bushy. A great number of branches reach up competing with the main cola that became a bit taller than the rest only towards the end of the life cycle. It remained unclear if the guys had topped the main stem to achieve this shape. The breeders explain that the strain was cultivated in the mountainous regions of the Swiss Alps, then also tested in Barcelona and Canada and everywhere it proved to be mold-resistant. During flowering the plant has an intense sweet smell and the buds as well as the sugar leaves are abundantly covered by white crystals.
